    To Whom it May Concern,

I am writing you to inquire about the position of junior engineer in the transportation department. I am currently a senior studying Civil Engineering at Syracuse University. I plan to take the FE exam this upcoming spring. Syracuse University is an ABET accredited program. So far, in my time at Syracuse I have taken a variety of classes that have help build the foundation of my knowledge.

The past two summers have furthered my knowledge of civil engineering. Two summers ago, I interned with Allen & Major, a private firm just outside of Boston. Most recently I interned with the engineering department in the city of Nashua, NH Department of Public Works division. In this internship I got my first experience with transportation design projects ranging from bike lane installations to safe routes to school. I was involved in these projects at various stages throughout their process.

Working in the public sector, I got experience performing engineer’s estimates, designing storm water projects, preparing bid documents, inspecting and installing of transportation projects. All these experiences that I gained over the past summer match up with the job posting on your website.

I am confident that my experience as an intern and my educational experience will be enough to allow me to contribute positively to Lu Engineers as well as its’ clients. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or further information. I will gladly give my resume and references if that is desired. I look forward to learning more about Lu Engineers as a company.
